In 2012, Charlotte Magazine wanted to try something it had never done before – a fully illustrated, comic-book-style article. I was hired to work with journalist Jeremy Markovich to create a 6-page story about the lethargic sports scene in Charlotte and the colorful viewpoints that certain key local players had about the subject. Since the focus of the article would be about the lifeless fans and their equally lifeless teams, I came up with the idea of depicting Charlotte as being overrun with zombie sports fans.
